Dear Friends and Family,
メリークリスマス ! Meriikurisumasu! We hope that your hearts are filled with the light of Christ at this beautiful Christmas time. We love taking this time to connect with loved ones near and far. Here is what our family has been up to this year.
We spent the first half of this year working on our East Coast bucket list. In addition to taking day trips into D.C. and the surrounding area, we also took longer trips to Williamsburg, Outer Banks, NYC, and throughout New England. In June we had a fabulous Donaldson family reunion where we visited Gettysburg, Latter-day Saint church history sites in NY and PA, saw Niagara Falls, and explored the Pocono mountains. In August we moved to Okinawa, Japan. We will miss all of our D.C. friends and family, the beautiful four seasons, and all the amazing historical and cultural experiences we enjoyed while living there. Our experience in Japan has been wonderful so far. We love this beautiful country and all the kind people we have met.
Jared finished up his general practice residency at Walter Reed, and he is now a busy dentist caring for Marines. In his free time he enjoys reading, site seeing, and hanging out at the beach.
Mary enjoys homeschooling, reading, swimming, relaxing on the beach, and exploring Okinawa.
Abby has been busy applying for college and getting involved in all things musical. In her free time she loves to read and do yoga.
Maddy does part-time HS and concurrent enrollment college classes through BYU-I online. She excels at the harp and piano, and in her free time she likes to read or work out at the base gym.
Nathan has enjoyed learning the bagpipes this year. He is doing well in his first year of high school and is involved in the school robotics club. Nathan recently passed up his dad in height, and is now working on passing up his mom to become the tallest member of the family.
Audrey loves art, crafting, playing the violin, and reading. She likes to ride her scooter and bike around the neighborhood. She also learned how to swim this summer.
Brooklyn worked hard to pass her swim test so she can swim on her own at the base pool. She enjoys riding her scooter, playing the piano, playing with stuffed animals, coloring, and reading.
