May 2012 Update

JARED'S BIRTHDAY

The kids were really excited to plan a nice birthday for daddy. They even helped me clean the house without me having to nag.
Thirty-two!
Ever the bibliophile, Jared asked for books for his birthday.  I gave him Grey's Anatomy and the kids gave him a nicely illustrated edition of The Hobbit.

Jared really loves German Chocolate cake but it takes so many expensive ingredients and so much time that  I've never made him one before.  This year I decided to go all out and do it.  It was delicious!

ABBY'S END OF THE YEAR PROGRAM

Abby was darling as she sang songs for her end of the year kindergarten program.  You could tell that she knew all the words perfectly and was singing her very best.  The thought of my little girl growing up combined with pregnancy hormones made me cry my eyes out.
Here's the family in front of Abby's school after the program.  Maddy was excited to see what Abby's classroom was like and Nathan was excited to wear a blue shirt so he could be "handsome like Daddy."

MEMORIAL DAY
We decided to do something fun to celebrate Memorial day despite Jared being gone.  The weather was absolutely perfect so I took the kids to the wading pool at Howard Amon park.

We also had a nice picnic by the Columbia River and played at the park afterward.

DADDY COME HOME!

Jared went to Toronto for a week for a CME conferences (we'll post Toronto pictures once we get them processed since Jared didn't want to bother taking our digital camera).  Nathan had a really hard time with Jared being gone.  He started waking up at night crying for his dad, and was always looking out the window waiting for daddy to come home.  Jared flew in at midnight last Thursday night but when we went to go pick him up we found that the car battery was dead (Nathan had climbed into the front seat and turned the lights on).  So an hour later, after I figured out how to jump the car, we finally were able to pick him up.  Nathan was super happy!  He was even more excited when daddy gave him a stuffed toy moose from Canada.  Nathan named him "Mr. Moose."
The girls cherish the red maple leaf necklace pendants/zipper pulls that Jared brought them.

NEW BACKPACKS
Maddy and Nathan were really excited to pick out their own backpacks.  Nathan picked out a Thomas the Tank Engine backpack and Maddy, of course, picked out Hello Kitty.  They love to wear their backpack everywhere and carry all sorts of things in it.  Nathan thinks it's a great home for Mr. Moose.  Nathan and Maddy especially like to put their backpacks on when we walk Abby to the bus stop in the morning so they can be like their big sister.

SPRING SOCIAL AT ABBY'S SCHOOL
The kids were excited to go to the Spring Social at Abby's school.

Maddy and Abby really enjoyed the rock climbing wall designed for Elementary aged children.
Abby's long arms and legs really helped.

The girls also enjoyed the bouncy houses and slides.
