February 2023

COLONIAL WILLIAMSBURG

Brooklyn's favorite part was the shuttle ride.

The Governor's palace
The display of arms in the entry

The rooms.
The gardens would probably have been impressive if it wasn't February.
Trying out hoops and other colonial games

The kids got to experience what it was like to play a harpsicord.

The Apothecary
The gunshop

The capitol
It was raining so we stopped in a military USO lounge for lunch. The girls liked the little rocking chairs there.
The tinsmith

The kids enjoyed looking at all the colonial instruments at the museum.

On our way back, we dropped Abby off at a church formal where she met Avery, who her cousin Emily set her up with for the the dance.

AIR AND SPACE MUSEUM
We had fun visiting the newly remodeled Air and Space museum.
The small step for mankind
The Apollo 11 capsule

The original Wright Brother's plane

KINDERGARTEN FUN

100th day of school!
Kids showing if they are tired or alert after daylight savings.
Brooklyn gets to eat lunch with the teacher (called lunch bunch) each month for not getting in trouble at school.

SUNSET BOULEVARD
Jared and I went to see Sunset Boulevard at the Kennedy Center. The storyline is a little weird, but the music and the performers were amazing.

FAMILY FUN

We all love Baby Korban. Since she had no younger siblings, Brooklyn especially likes helping to take care of him.

It only snowed once this winter, so the girls were excited about our 1/2 inch of snow.

I'm feeling really old since the historical character dolls in the girls' American Girl catalogue are from 1999.

Brooklyn had fun shopping with me.
Nathan and I watched Rocky I and IV together. He decided to try out the sweatshirt tucked in sweatpants look.
We were excited about the beautiful crocuses in our yard. The first signs of spring.

Abby, Maddy, and Nathan did a great job doing a lip sync battle at church. Abby really shown!

BABY KORBAN

We got to attend baby Korban's baby blessing.

He's so precious!
Cuddling his mom

MARCH FOR LIFE
Living near DC has its benefits. We got to participate in the March for Life with Sarah and the Cranney family. We joined the Latter-day Saints for life group in marching at the capital.
It was touched by the many individuals, families, and groups who came together to speak for the unborn and to support mothers in choosing life.
Maddy and Nathan were definitely out of their introvert comfort zone in joining me on the march, but I was proud of them being willing to stand up for what they believe.
I was brought to tears by a group that were holding signs saying that they were conceived by rape, that their mothers chose life, and that they love their lives. I felt it was a sweet tribute to their brave mothers who had made a hard, unselfish choice despite horrible circumstances.
This march began 50 years ago when Roe vs Wade was passed, and this year was a celebration of that horrible decision being overturned.
The march ended with the big sign saying "Life Wins" at the end. It made my heart happy.
