Nathan's 7th Birthday

NATHAN'S PIRATE WATER PARTY

An August birthday calls for something to cool you off.
He and the girls used LEGOs to make this topping for the cake.
Maddy trying to throw rings on captain Nathan's hook.
Coconut bowling on the back porch.
Treasure hunt!
Nathan opening presents with his hook hand.

Making a wish as he blows out the candles.
Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting.  Yum!
The kids took turn walking the plank into the kiddy pool while they got blasted by water squirters and water balloons.

Audrey really liked the water balloons.

It was fun to have friends and cousins (they got into town the night before) for the party.

NATHAN AT 7
I love this picture because it shows what a sweet boy Nathan is.  He takes great care of his little sister Audrey.   He is always ready to play with her, give her a hug, or kill "mean bugs" for her.

August 2016 Update

CUTE AUDREY PICTURES
Audrey at the Mayborn.  She thought the tamborine went around her waist.

Audrey loves dressing up and going to church.
She is wearing a cute yellow dress that my Aunt Alice gave me when Abby was born.

Audrey loves taking care of her baby dolls.

Giving her baby a hug.  She now must sleep with her baby at naptime and bedtime.  She insists that her doll has a kitty binky as well.
Audrey is obsessed with trains right now, and she was excited to see the train in the pediatrician's waiting room.  She loves the book "The Little Engine that Could," and she likes to color in a Thomas the train coloring book that Nathan gave her.

 OYLMPICS
Audrey really got into the Olympics. Here she is cheering for Michael Phelps.  She kept saying "Number one!" and holding up her pointer fingers.

The Cranney's get cable with their new apartment so we went over to watch some Olympics with them.  Here are all the kids lined up on the couch watching some gymnastics.

 TOOTH EXTRACTION
One of Maddy's teeth wasn't coming out and it was causing teeth to come in crooked as well as a lot of gum inflammation, so the dentist had to pull it out.  Maddy was super brave and got the Thomas award.

 HILL COUNTRY ANNIVERSARY GETAWAY
Jared was super sweet and planned a 2 day anniversary getaway for us at a beautiful bed and breakfast in Texas hill country (this is the closest you get to mountains in Texas).  My sister Rachel was awesome and watched all our kids so we could go.
We got our own private cottage and hot tub.

Jared took me to an amazing Thai food restaurant that was divine.  It was nice to get some good vegetarian Asian food since Waco doesn't have any decent options.

The bed and breakfast had some beautiful gardens where they do weddings.   We got the gardens, lake, and pools to ourselves since there were no other lodgers on the days that we were there.  As Jared put it, "This is an introvert's paradise."
Enjoying one of the green houses.
I'm sure glad I married this handsome man 14 years ago.  He is such a kind, sweet husband and a wonderful father.

FHE: TITLE OF LIBERTY

Jared had a white shirt that needed to be retired, so we had a Title of Liberty lesson for FHE.
All the kids wanted a turn waving the flag.
 CRANNEYS ARE BACK!

The Cranneys spent the summer in Utah, and we were excited to have them join us back in Waco in August.  Audrey loves "Joshy" and "Simmy" (she hasn't learned how to say Christian's name yet).

Joshua is super sweet with Audrey and takes good care of her at Nursery and at the park.
The Cranneys are in a nice apartment with a pool, so we have been able to enjoy some nice cousin swimming time.  One good thing about spending the summer in Texas is that we got a lot of swimming in.  Nathan, Maddy, and Abby are all getting to be great swimmers.
