July 2022

INDEPENENCE DAY
The kids made our traditional fruit flag.

Brooklyn having fun with glow sticks.

We watched the fireworks on the top floor of the metro parking garage and it was perfect.

We happened to park right by a group of ward members, which was nice.

THE NATIONAL ZOO

Brooklyn all dressed up and ready for the zoo

We took the metro into the zoo

Cool tree

Brooklyn got really excited about the tigers!
Weird alligator snapping turtle

All of Audrey's panda dreams came true!

The tiger and the panda

FIREFLIES

Catching Fireflies at night is one of Audrey's and Brooklyn's favorite activities.

THE NATIONAL GALLERY

I think this painting looks like me as a child.
Maddy with her favorite Monet.
Audrey liked the violin painting.
Nathan liked the fruit picture. It made his mouth water.
The harpists.
Brooklyn liked this picture of a little girl.
This girl reading looks a lot like Maddy.
The kids thought this picture must have been the inspiration for Professor Quirrell in Harry Potter.
Lots of Medieval paintings that made the Christ child look like a weird tiny man.
Beautiful statue of a girl reading
The Thinker
Brooklyn liked all of Degas' ballet dancers

We had lunch in the National Gallery sculpture garden

FORD'S THEATRE

Stack of books about Lincoln going up more than a story!
The room where he died.
Ford's Theatre was very interesting. I highly recommend visiting it. You need to pay for parking, but the tour is free.

Trying out old fashioned bikes.

Brooklyn enjoyed building things in the Sparks lab.

FRANKLIN

TEMPLE VISITOR'S CENTER

It was neat to go to the visitor's center and remember my time here as a missionary

GRACE

We have a sweet neighbor Grace who invites us over for playdates in her backyard. Last week she let the girls go around her yard with scissors and pick flowers.

SERVICE

Audrey enjoyed doing service with the other activity day girls in the ward. They helped put ribbons on blankets for foster kids.
